UPSI’s Integrated Financial Information System (MyFIS Neo) is a new integrated and comprehensive financial management system starting from the budget management process to financial reporting. This system is developed using an open source programming platform, namely PHP. In addition, the system also uses an open source database, namely PostgreSQL. UPSI is a pioneer in the use of open source programming and databases for the development of the entire University management system.
It was officially launched on January 15, 2020. The Treasurer’s Department has officially successfully implemented the Account Closing Process and Preparation of UPSI Financial Statements for 2020 and 2021 using the MyFIS Neo System.
MyFIS Neo is an integrated financial information system developed entirely by UPSI staff, integrating the entire financial process from budget to final report. It uses an open source platform (PHP, PostgreSQL) and makes UPSI the first leading public university in Malaysia to completely transition to open-source technology for its university management system.
Staff payroll, claims and deductions are directly linked to MyFIS Neo for automatic processing and account reconciliation.
Student fee payments, academic records and financial transactions are automatically integrated with MyFIS Neo.
Suppliers send invoices digitally with data entered directly into MyFIS Neo for approval and payment.
Vendor and staff payments are processed automatically without file uploads. Real-time, secure and fully audited transactions.
A new electronic procurement system developed internally by UPSI and linked directly to MyFIS Neo for full purchasing control.
Staff data, positions and organizational structure are synchronized for salary calculations & claim eligibility.
Student academic information (status/study) is connected for student fee and financial management.
The user control center system manages access, roles, and connections between UPSI systems.
Developed using the CodeIgniter framework based on PHP v8.4, MyFIS Neo operates fast, stable and easy to maintain.
Uses PostgreSQL, a secure and high-performance open source database to store and manage all university financial transactions.
Equipped with DigiCert SSL and PKI encryption to protect data and ensure all access and transactions are securely authenticated.
Generate interactive and automated financial reports using JasperSoft, enabling accurate and fast data analysis.
The re-accreditation by the Accountant General of Malaysia (AGM) strengthens MyFIS Neo’s position as the most stable, secure and compliant university financial system in the public sector.
The Treasurer’s Department successfully brought home a reward of RM300,000.00, a trophy and a certificate. The award was presented by YBhg Tan Sri Dr. Ali bin Hamsa, Chief Secretary to the Government at the 2014 Public Sector Innovation Awards Ceremony on 9 October 2014 at The Place @ One City Subang Jaya.
